Steve received a degree in Environmental Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1971. He studied at the Seattle Institute of Art as well as taking many art classes  in various media to satisfy his interests in a wide range of art disciplines. His paintings as well as custom etched glass and carved doors, sculptures, and commissioned works are in many private homes, hotels and commercial spaces in the Rocky Mountains.

Steve and his family lived in Costa Rica for 11 years, before moving to Bozeman, Mt. in 2000. There he started the first naturalist tour company on the Pacific Coast offering white water rafting, sea kayaking and naturalist trips. Besides painting, Steve enjoys skiing and fishing in beautiful Montana.
